The fitness ministry of PBPC believes that physical training is of some value according to 1 Timothy 4:8. At Progressive, we see value in cultivating healthy Christians in a holistic way. Our fitness ministry serves to address the physical health of our members.
During warmer months, we enjoy engaging outdoors because we value the beauty in God's creativity as seen in nature. From drudging up the steep stair trail of Swallow Cliff Woods, to trotting along the lakefront (where we capture the sunrise over Chicago's impressive skyline), we embrace opportunities to appreciate the blessing of nature while we workout. We end the summer season with a church picnic where we offer a hearty meal and an array of games and fitness activities.
When the weather is not as favorable, some members enjoy indoor gym memberships and aqua aerobic classes to maintain their fitness momentum.
No matter where you stand on your fitness journey, there is a place for you with this ministry. Our senior-aged biking leaders prove that age is not a factor; they eagerly conquer biking feats from 83rd street to navy pier (and back). Our youngest fitness ministry member, a two year old, unwinds in a stroller as his mother pushes him along on her tread around the Dan Ryan Woods. ALL are welcome in the fitness ministry.
